Anne Dixon, Reader |
Born and raised in Yorkshire, Anne moved to Formby with husband Hugh in 1996. She was licensed as a reader in 2004. After career forays into insurance, textiles, newspapers and education, she finally settled into dressmaking and has been sewing since 1986. With Hugh she also plays in the worship group at St Luke’s and helps lead the home-based Bible study. They have no children, but several nephews, nieces and godchildren! |
Allan Hobson, Reader |
Allan has been a reader at St. Luke's for more than 30 years. He is a retired Chartered Engineer and Professor of Electrical Engineering. Within the church he leads services and preaches, and is responsible for the parish link to Shyira, Rwanda. He is Honorary Chairman of the Shyira Trust. He also manages this website. Allan has an MBE for services to the Community in Liverpool and Rwanda. |
Chris Mulford, |
In 1977 I began my training to be a Reader in Hereford, completed in Carnoustie and licensed in 1979 in the diocese of Brechin at Dundee Cathedral. I have subsequently been licensed in the dioceses of Lincoln, Winchester and Liverpool. I preach and lead worship as part of the team at St Luke's. As a Rotarian I provide a link between St Luke’s Church and Formby Rotary Club. |
Colin Trollope, |
Colin was a Head of a Special Needs Department in a 2,000 plus boys’ Comprehensive RC School, and also a West Lancs. Training Officer and ACF Officer (33 years army service). Although retired he is still a governor at Range High School. He has 2 sons, one in Germany with a young family, and one locally (a photographer) who runs the southportreporter.com. His wife, Linda, was responsible in getting him to attend St Luke’s and to join its choir. About the end of the 20th century, he trained as a Reader. He has preached at various churches amongst whom were St Bartholomew, Chipping; St Leonard, Bootle and St Helen in Sefton. He leads courses on the Holy Bible and other religious subjects and has led Diocesan Team Training courses. He also writes occasional articles in the magazine. |
Jean Watts, Reader |
Hello, I'm Jean Watts, from Geordie land, who has lived in Washington (not D.C. but Tyne & Wear), most of my life. I have a son and daughter both married who have given me four grandchildren between them. I moved to Formby to live beside my daughter and her family in order to support them due to my grandson’s illness. |
